Not just one  – but I’m happy to put in a plug for David Almond. Read beautiful Skellig. (Amazing, how he does so much with so little!) Or The Fire-Eaters – a small, dark diamond of a book. Or My Name is Mina. Or (rather older and grittier) The Tightrope Walkers. I am filled with admiration and envy.
