Great acting – and tyranny

Helping out with a high school class on dystopian lit, I came across one of the best examples of the craft I’ve seen in a long time – the Irish actor Jonjo O’Neill doing the opening speech of that great masterclass on the nature of tyranny, Richard III.

Three minutes – and I promise you’re going to love this: Jonjo O’Neill as Richard III / YouTube

The play raises an interesting thought. Tyranny doesn’t come out of nowhere, and it comes not merely out of evil but out of corruption into evil. So perhaps we should be nicer to Donald Trump, and tell him we really think he’s handsome.
