After Lizzy Yarnold’s gold medal in skeleton, The Grauniad claims it is the “first time Britain have won three medals in same day.” In my other country of citizenship, it has been a long-standing and philosophically charged debate whether “the United States is …” or “the United States are ….” A hint of the post- Brexit breakup of Great Britain here?
